Objectives ,Aims and Goals of IIBE

 

The objectives, aims and goals as defined for the Institution are enumerated below:-

 

(a) Reach practicing Bridge Engineers at all level, generate greater interaction among them and exchange knowledge on latest technological developments in construction technology, contract methods and approaches and construction equipments.

 

(b) Spread practical knowledge on construction of bridges by greater interaction among the experts through refresher courses, seminars, workshops, video films, technical brochures etc.

 

(c) Bring together expertise available in the field of design and construction of bridges for both Highways as well as the Railway bridges, facilitate more effective dissemination of available data on the problems faced by different group and help to evolve an economical and efficient solution of the problem for expeditious completion of major bridge projects.

 

(d) Collect and document all aspects of technology relevant to bridge engineering and disseminate the same to all interested members. Conduct series of dissemination programmes on various sub-groups of bridge engineering periodically. Apart from dissemination programmes, organize seminars, workshops on various aspects of Bridge Engineering and allied topics in various parts of the country from time to time

 

(e) Serve as an effective interface between various Research Institutions and Standard Marking Organisations as well as practicing engineers, construction agencies, consultancy organizations and Government/ Semi Government bodies. In particular, focus the need of practicing engineers so that the Research Institutions could take up construction oriented research programme.

 

(f)Compile and maintain a computerized data base on all personalities, firms and companies connected with Bridge Engineering all over India and disseminate such information as and when required by any member of the Institution or outsider. In this direction, a Bridge Engineering Directory by IIBE in the year 1995-96 consisting Bridge designers, Contractors, Consultants, Suppliers of Plant, Equipment and Materials in Bridge Engineering and State of Art Papers by Bridge Experts on twelve important aspects of Bridge Engineering was published. The directory also include names and addresses of all type of members of IIBE.
