Ethos

The Ethos of the Organisation

The BRO derives its structure and discipline from the Army.  It is an unarmed and non combatant force integral to the Armed Forces with men in uniform, both from the Army and the General Reserve Engineer Force(GREF) from all  walks of life, blending together, as a truly ethnic, integrated and highly motivated force,  imbibing the best traditions of the Army.

In war too, the BRO provides close support to the Armed Forces in maintaining the vast road communication network, not only in the War Zone, but also linking the logistic nodes of the Army in the rear to its forces in battle.

War or peace, the day to day life at work for the GREF officers and men is consistently hard and dangerous, always on locations and tasks mostly in remote and often insurgent prone areas, where others would not tread, serving a life time in environmentally uncongenial conditions, far from civilized locations and normal amenities and often separated from their wives and children.  It has always been an ethos of “Work first and all else afterwards”.

As the country progresses towards a technological era, the Border Roads Organisation continues to play a vital role in nation building and national integration, as a modern progressive Organisation, not only constructing roads, but also diversifying into various other major fields of construction activity, like airfields, building projects and permanent bridge construction.
