Lt Gen (Retd) A K Puri; PVSM, AVSM

Born on 09 Sep 1941 at Jammu (J&K), Lt Gen AK Puri, PVSM, AVSM is a Graduate from DSSC, Wellington and College of Defence Management, Secundrabad. He has also done Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from Institute of Management, Delhi and Advance Diploma in Computer Software from Informatics Computer System, Delhi. He took his training from NDA  and IMA and was commissioned in the Corps of engineers on 18 Dec 1960.                                     

He has had the rare distinction of being the Chief Engineer of prestigious Project Beacon of BRO from Dec 87 to Jan 91 and Chief Engineer Eastern Command of the India Army. The General Officer is a keen sportsman and an avid Golfer. He is the recipient of Ati Vishist Seva Medal (AVSM) and Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM) for his distinguished service to the Nation. After a successful tenure as Commandant, College of Military Engineering, he took over the prestigious appointment of Director General Border Roads on 19 Feb 2000 and served up to the date of his superannuation i.e. 30 Sep 2001
