Raised in Jun 1962 at Dehradun for construction of Joshimath-Malari-Rinkin Road and named after the legendary mount of Maharana Pratap, its jurisdiction today is spread across the States of Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Maharashtra and Goa.
In Oct – Nov 1962, during the Chinese aggression, the Project helped the Army by providing transport service on the Rishikesh-Joshimath-Malari axis. After the peace was restored, the Project paid attention to the field of development. The famous pilgrim route from Rishikesh to Badrinath was substantially developed by the Project and opened in June 1965. It has been a great boon for the devoted pilgrims visiting Hemkund Sahib and Badrinath Shrine.
