Project Arunank, the Indian ‘Avtar' of Project Zaranj was carved out from one of the oldest projects of BRO Project Vartak. It was raised at Naharlagun. Project was aptly named Arunank after the state of Arunachal Pradesh since there was a long felt need for a Project HQ to be located within the state to meet the aspiration of the people of this beautiful lush green state.

With the blessings of the rising Sun,the Project HQ started functioning wef 01 Feb 2009 at Naharlagun. Project Arunank has a vital role in the development of strategic roads and in

a larger perspective, the overall communication system, designed for the socio economic development of Arunachal Pradesh. Majority of roads under the Project pass through treacherous thick forests and hostile hilly terrain. The Arunankees have now orgainsed themselves to ‘March-0n-Regardless’ of all the odds.

To connect the remote regions of border areas as well as to develop strategic roads, the Project has been entrusted with the responsibility of construction of a number of new roads under various schemes and agencies and double laning of part of NH-52 under MOSRT&H majority of the attack points designated for the construction of these roads are totally air maintained where the progress of road construction is solely dependent on the availability of air effort. Due to harsh climatic conditions, near vertical hard rock strata and inaccessibility, the progress on these roads is relatively slow and is being achieved by the sheer guts and determination of a handful of hardy Arunankees Project Arunank, since it commenced functioning wef 2010- 11, has the following achievements to its credit during year 2010-11
